SNAFU PODCAST

We're up and running with the podcasts now. Martin Jay put together a fine eclectic effort that had the Trouble guys in a fiddle recently in Edinburgh so we thought we'd try and get it as far and wide as we could. You can subscribe here or visit the pod blog HQ below - either way we want to get it riding high in the download charts. Funky Transport put together the first podcast featuring fine deep house from Charles Webster and Phaze Action... and expect some of the quality guests who pass through the FU doors to be contributing too. ZOMBIE ZOMBIE

Wow, how good were Zombie Zombie. Despite having listened to much of their productions in anticipation of their perfromance we (jaco, nomes, marty) weren't expecting to be blown away by the stage antics - including some quite mesmerising 4-armed drumming and nob-fiddling/tweaking that would haver Gary Glitter on stand-by. We did well to swell a hundred people in for the night and sure to say everyone enjoyed the duo as much as our trio. Big thanks to Sharon Dizzy Storm for putting on two amazing shows (olafur at peacock too) in a week.

DUNNOTTAR WINES + SPIRITS

If you find yourself looking for that elusive grape or malt over the festive season then check out Snafu's favourite wine + spirit retailer, Dunnottar, down in Stonehaven. Proprietors Sandy and Jane have put together a winning formula that's already got the local population popping with joy. Loads of tastings and incredibly good value for products not available ANYWHERE else. Nice logo too Jaco we say :)

It's on Evan Street just off the market square, and right next to the Carron Art DEco restaurant.

FELIX CARTAL

Friday 7 Dec was a quality endeavour with the blogtastic Felix fending off many an autograph from his cyberfirends. Quite odd really but his talent, at the ripe age of 20, is there to be heard (links below)... props also to the Last Tango brigade who got the proceedings off early with a fine debut from The Volts (well they've played before but never had a name), Gavin McGinty (always a pleasure) and the spewtastic (photos to follow) duo of Kurtz + Gregz. Great effort and sure to be a regular Snafu occurance.

Also had to include a photo of Matt (spotty puss) on his global farewell. He wasn't making sense but we wish him well on his travels. Bets are on he'll be back under the granite walls within 2-3 weeks.

OLAFUR ARNALDS

Snafu Magazine had the pleasure of hearing the beautiful sounds of Olafur Arnalds last night in Peacock Visual Arts. Appearing with 3 violinists and a cellist Olafur played sensual music with a lullaby influence while a backdrop of powerful imgaes from his native Iceland had the gathering entranced. A nice escapism to the winter snap up here. Read all about it it the next Snafu Magazine >>

SNAFU MAG 15

The latest Snafu Magazine has been released. Been out a few days now so keep your eyes peeled on the streets of Scotland. Editorial includes Erol Alkan, Slam, Q-Burns, James Lavelle, Peacock Visual Arts, Trump Golf and all the usuals.

We've got a wee party for it next week. Feel free to join us. It includes FREE entry to the mighty fine Zombie Zombie show... they're re a crazy scientist and musical project based in Paris, france, lead by two people; professor Etienne Jaumet (Married Monk) and cosmicNeman (Herman Düne), the pair use sound and rhythm to explore the feeling of fear growing deep inside of you, by transporting you to a cosmic world of ear tantalizing martians, ear burning synthesising and super cool electro. With the help of Dizzy Storm Snafu are over the martian moon to be hosting them for an live performance at Electrique Boutique after they terrorise the masses at Optimo the previous night.
